SCholarship Recipients
Each year, the Blue and Gold Ceremony at Lago Vista High School in Lago Vista, Texas, serves as a special tradition that honors student achievement, school pride, and the strong sense of community within the school. The annual event brings together students, families, teachers, and staff to celebrate hard work, dedication, and accomplishments across the school year. It reflects the spirit of excellence, unity, and support that continues to define Lago Vista High School.

Ricardo Seda Gutierrez
College: Hanibal-LaGrange University
Major: Exercise Science
Richardo was a decorated baseball athlete all four years for Varsity while balancing his academics and family time with difficult sports training. He also spent his senior year at Lago Vista as an athletic trainer to prepare him for his career.
Zac Zeleski
College: Blinn College
Major: Welding Technologies
Zac was a decorated multisport athlete winning accolades in baseball, basketball and tennis. In addition to sports, he was a PALS member and donated his time to various church camps throughout the year.
Reagan Phariss
College: Texas Tech University
Major: Chemical Engineering in Pharmaceuticals
Reagan was a very busy student in high school who not only competed at the varsity level in basketball, golf and powerlifting, she was also the team captain in multiple sports, while also being a cheer team’s manager. She was a member of National Honor Society and PALS. Her unwavering work ethic earned her top 10% in her graduation class. Her determination is unmatched and like Whitney, it earned her the Viking Heart award for basketball.
Ava Ferguson
College: Texas Tech University
Major: Pre-Nursing
Ava has shown incredible resilience through personal challenges while stepping up to be a leader amongst many programs. She’s a multi-sport athlete and team manager. Her activities include NHS, PALS, CNA program and DECA while serving several volunteer programs within Lago Vista. Ava continues to “StayStrong and follow your desire” to serve those in need.
Colby Fowler
College: Wharton County Junior College
Major: Kinesiology
Colby is a very decorated 4-year baseball player for Lago Vista including Multiple Team MVPs, Multiple All-District MVPs and many more awards. He has proven, through an immense amount of dedication, to be the best at something, you have to dedicate time and effort above and beyond what is asked of you. He’s been committed to his craft through diet, nutrition and constant skills refinement.
Sophie Seewald
College: University of Vermont
Major: Civil Engineering
Sophie has a tremendous amount of community service. She is an excellent student while becoming a very decorated athlete in Cross Country, Track, Soccer and Marching band. In addition, she’s a GROW STEP club officer, In PALS, Green Team, NHS, Spanish Club, Student Council and in an Austin Chamber Music Center ensemble. With the valuable skills she’s learned, she’d like to study Civil Engineers to create sustainable practices in planning and developing infrastructure.
Mikayla Vasquez
College: Texas State University
Major: Biology
We are very proud of Mikayla and how she’s turned challenges and grief into a career focus and a sense of community. This is a core mission of RowLikeWhit and Mikayla has not only shared this mission but actively volunteered to drive that mission. She’s a decorated 4-year varsity player in both Volleyball and Softball while being involved with DECA, NHS, Grow Stem and Spanish Club. This was all done while balancing a work schedule and several volunteering activities throughout the year.
Kason Erwin
College: University of Arkansas
Major: Sports Management
We’ve personally known Kason for the entirety of his Lago Vista time, and we continue to be amazed by his character. Kason was the team Manager for Football, which is where he got to know Whitney, as well as basketball and PALS. He has a heart to serve and enable others to be better and that is an incredible mission of its own. He’s also involved in the Point Venture Leos and Lion Club, Northlake Youth Group, Torch Run volunteer and many more. In addition, Kason is a medalist at the Special Olympics in Basketball. He balances a job, friends, school while continuing to have the best of attitudes. Kason has been a member of the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities Youth Ambassador program. In April, Kason testified before Texas Congress to raise awareness for Postsecondary Education and support of Bill 2081 and 1679. Throughout the year, he’s given several presentations both Live and remote on the subject and his determination has helped. As you can see, he has a heart to serve, a drive to help others and the ability to impact the lives of others in a positive way.
